Predicting Performance

Streamline Network Performance Audits

The use of Network Assessments to understand the network's readiness for IP telephony is certainly recommended and is increasingly understood by customers and the VAR community alike as a critical step in the deployment. However, there are other circumstances where the same technologies and processes, here called network performance audits can add value, even after an IP telephony implementation is already installed.

Typical Applications

Region-by-Region: When VoIP is deployed region-by-region, each new network region needs to be assessed before being loaded up with realtime traffic.

Newly-Managed Customers: So a managed service provider takes on a new account, and needs to understand the performance of the network without necessarily deploying appliances.

Changing Carriers: Using the network performance audit procedure to test the quality of potentially new carriers is less risky than testing with production traffic.

Teleworkers: The deployment of an agent pair to assess the at-home configuration dimensions - bandwidth allocation, VPN tunnel configuration and the like - can be helpful at effectively developing company policies for experience-affecting service providers, configuration parameters and application limitations, if appropriate.
